Carols in the Club

Our annual Carols event is being held tomorrow, Tuesday, December 12th, at The Mildmay Club. A huge thank you to The Mildmay Club for partnering with us after the grass maintenance on the Green we updated you on in our last newsletter taking longer than expected.

Please come along and share the poster/Instagram post with your friends and neighbours. There will lyrics available in both paper form and through a QR code.

Improvements to the Green

Hopefully most of you will have noticed the noticeboard that appeared on the Green this week. It will soon have a metallic back panel that will have information about historical and present-day Newington Green. If you are interested in helping design the panel please email jk@newingtongreen.org.

You may have noticed some works around the toilet in the kiosk building. After many years of campaigning the toilet is finally being fully renewed! The works will be completed in late January,

With the noticeboard, the toilet renewal, the water fountain, the playground extension and the grass maintenance we have now completed the five tasks we set ourselves for NG improvements since 2020.

We’re also very pleased that The Garden Classroom has expanded their agreement with the council and will now be looking after the East perimeter of the Green (as well as the South).

Mildmay Liveable Neighbourhood
We have written to Islington Council again to follow up on the points we have raised.

We are working on putting all Liveable Neighbourhood documents and submissions together on our website and we will share the link with you in our next newsletter.

Flags on the Green

Some of you will be aware that the flag pole, which is not managed by either us, the cafe or The Garden Classroom has been the site of some issues in the last month.

The flag that had been there for over a year was taken down by someone and then another flag was put up. We felt that flag was inappropriate and removed it. There is no flag flying at the moment and we have asked the Council to secure the pole because the mechanism has been damaged/vandalised. Once that happens we will update you.

Holiday celebration @ Newington Green Food Hub

The Food Hub will be closed on the 26th December but on the 19th December there will be an extra celebratory session with gifts.

Please come along to St Jude and St Paul's Church if you would like to eat with us and see the Food Hub in action. If you would like to help out and are available Tuesday December 19th between 12.30 and 3pm please email food@newingtongreen.org

Our membership has doubled in the past year to 180 local households. The best way to support NGAG's work at the Food Hub is to become a regular donor. You can do so here or contact the Treasurer directly at accounts@newingtongreen.org.
